The following worked for Fire TV. From the Amazon Shopping Android app enter "prime video" in the search bar and search. Or hit home and from just under the search bar, scroll over and select Video. Once at "prime video", select Menu, Settings, Player, and turn Auto Play On or Off. Turing it off from the Amazon Shopping Android app turned it off on my Fire TV Cube. I had it off in the Prime Video app but that didn't carry over to my Fire TV Cube and the Fire TV Cube doesn't have its own setting.

for Prime - Go to Prime Video and select 'Settings' on the right side of the menu bar. 2. Scroll down to 'Player Preferences' and check 'Off' under 'Auto Play.' It should save automatically and post a check mark with the note 'Your setting has been saved.'
For netflix - To disable Post-Play's auto-play feature on a Netflix profile, navigate to your Account, click Playback Settings, then uncheck the option to Play next episode automatically. Other Post-Play features will still be enabled -- this setting simply turns off automatic playback of the next episode.

The streaming service still functions the same. For example, Netflix will ask if you're still watching after a few episodes. Unless the app already has a stop auto-start setting, Alexa can't change those rules but she'll stop the episode if you tell her to.

You can if you stream from computer, phone or tablet. Go to PrimeVideo/Settings/Turn off Autoplay. For the rest of us, however, it's not just frustrating it's beyond incomprehensible. If you watch from an Amazon Prime app(!!!!) on a TV, there's no option at all to turn autoplay off and you miss anywhere between 30 seconds to 2 minutes of the episode you're watching! There are numerous conversations on this forum that've been going on, literally, for years, and Amazon, which has a responsibility to remedy this for their paying customers (forking out exorbitant amounts for yearly subscriptions) has refused to. Their position continues to be 'oh, sorry about our incapable app on your device.' If you won't fix your app for all various devices, quit partnering with other services for massive profit at your customers' expense. As a poster in a different thread put it: If you bought a new car and the back-up camera or radio wasn't working, would a dealer be legally allowed to shrug and say, 'sorry about that. You should've picked a different vehicle?' If you offer the option, then offer the option for everyone. I can't watch on my phone; I don't own a tablet nor do I want one; I'm not about to pay for an extra service or a new TV. As a matter of fact, allowing customers to turn off Autoplay or simply not offering it on these devices is more simple than the programming that has Autoplay! Amazon: Fix it. Your app is your app regardless of what device paying customers are using. This isn't brain surgery and continuing to blatantly refuse to fix the issue of cutting off endings of programs and without any way for us to turn off that option (except on your chosen and specific devices) is unacceptable. see less There are numerous conversations on this forum that've been going on, literally, for years, and Amazon, which has a responsibility to remedy this for their paying customers (forking out exorbitant amounts for yearly subscriptions) has refused to. Fire 8. I couldn't do this from the tablet but using account on amazon.com type in prime video. Tap the Menu upper right corner. Select Account and Settings...and, finally!, there it is: Auto Play on/off.

You must use a computer to access your Prime Video account. Login and go to (gear icon⚙️) settings, then "player" at the top. You can turn on/off autoplay for shows and trailers.

featherjourney's method works from the Amazon app as well. Just type "prime video" in the search box first. Thanks!
